Hello! Welcome to all of you who are new subscribers to Seams Sew Together. I'm very happy to have you join in with this great group of people who love to quilt or sew.
Some of you were able to visit during the Vermont Shop Hop and I hope that you had a great time and found inspiration to create more amazing things. Thanks so much to all of you who came in and spent time browsing and for all the conversation and laughs. It's such a fun time to be in the store. If you didn't participate in the shop hop, feel free to send me an email letting me know what kept you from joining in. If anyone wants to send in ideas to make the hop more exciting, I'm happy to hear them. As a shop owner, I enjoy it, but would also like for it to be a great experience for you as well.
There are some upcoming classes/workshops that may be of interest to you.
There is a curved piecing workshop in May that uses a Shorthand Template, either the paper one included in the patterns or a plastic one backed with a suede-like material for increased accuracy and ease of use. There are multiple patterns to choose from, a few kits available and a good time to be had learning something a bit different.
Also in May, there will be a workshop on making a Faux-Flange Binding. This is a great technique by machine for when there's not enough time or desire to do hand stitching, or your hands and eyes just can't do the hand stitching anymore. It looks clean when finished.
Again, in May will be a Clara Table Runner workshop where you can use either traditional rulers or a Creative Grids Stripology ruler to complete the project. We will go over how to use the Stripology ruler for basic cutting, and trimming and of course, this specific pattern's needs.
And the Book Lovers Quilt Club is ongoing, gathering on the last Wednesday evening of the month. Currently there are eight of us participating with room to grow. We inspire each other with the books we read, and those book covers inspire the colors we use in our blocks. Join us one time for free to see if we are a good fit! iIf you join, then there is a small annual fee to help cover the costs of running the club. Most people stay more participatory when they have some investment as well as inspiration.
I will be starting to work on my next round of classes, one being a nature-based Foundation Paper Pieced project that has potential to become a club. If you have ideas for classes or workshops, email me and I'll take them into consideration. I'd love to be able to do things you are interested in.
New fabrics are coming in each month and I'm trying to provide some variety in styles for you without going too far outside of my own happy zone. Each of them has their own je ne sais quoi that makes them special and makes me want to spend all day sewing. Hopefully they will inspire you too.
There is just one kit left of this absolutely gorgeous quilt! It is a limited edition, as there were only 4 made up with these amazing fabrics. You can order it here and choose either in-store pickup or have it shipped to you. It is a great skill builder for new quilters or a simple but beautiful project for all levels of quilters.
Last, but not least, the store will be closed on the following unusual dates/times...
Friday, May 16: closed all day
Saturday, May 17: closed all day
Saturday, May 31: opening at 10am and closing at 1pm
Saturday, June 28: closed all day
Please plan accordingly. Thank you!
I hope to see in the store or on the 3rd Wednesday Facebook Live, which is this Wednesday, the 16th at 7pm.
As always, sew happy!
Shelley
