Rock River Science
| We'd like to share some information about a local non-profit corporation for whom we were fortunate enough to make a wall hanging quilt. Rock River Science and Education Inc is a Vermont domestic, non-profit corporation dedicated to environmentalism, monitoring the Rock River and its adjacent watersheds in Windham County. Their mascot, is Unk Ta He, the Alogonquin Dragon of the Deep was chosen because the Rock River has some of the deepest mantle rocks on Earth. They are the deepest rocks in the Appalachian Mountain Range. The president approached us to have a quilt made for them featuring their mascot. After learning about what Rock River Science is all about, we worked together to choose fabrics, simplicity of the applique and the quilting designs. Below is a picture of the front of the quilt with Unk Ta He; the back is a marbled fabric in shades of blue to represent the river water.
